Services Overview

Horizons Unlimited has worked with adults who have developmental, mental and/or physical disabilities for more than 50 YEARS. Through every program Horizons offers, our mission is “Providing opportunities for our Horizons family to develop their full potential in a positive atmosphere.” Program areas Horizons offers include residential, vocational and day habilitation services.

Through our residential services, life skills taught include:

• Personal Hygiene
• Laundry
• Health
• Safety
• Budgeting
• Social Skills

Residential options available include group homes, apartments, and Supported Community Living.

Through our vocational services, Horizons offers work opportunities through community employment. Individuals work at dozens of businesses throughout the area.

With employment services, Horizons helps individuals find work in the community and these individuals work directly for the employers. Community employees are supported by trained and certified Horizons job developers and job coaches until they become proficient enough that they no longer need supports. Employees supported by Horizons work in all kinds of jobs, in settings as varied as retail stores, restaurants, factories and plants, offices and clinics, pharmacies, schools and daycares, libraries, hotels, car dealerships, salons, museums, gas stations, retirement homes, and outdoor settings.

Horizons offers daily activities which provides members the opportunity to achieve a variety of community orientated goals of the member’s choosing. In addition to educational, volunteering, and skill-building activities, Horizons Unlimited’s gives the members a wider array of recreational choices.
