The Horizons Unlimited Community Life Engagement (CLE) program was founded in 2009. CLE is a 100% community integrated program that provides opportunities for participants to become a part of their community and form relationships with community members.
A wide variety of leisure, recreational, and volunteer activities are available to provide meaningful community inclusion experiences for those involved. The overarching goal is to help each individual develop and strengthen skills in the areas of social skills, communication, community inclusion, personal health, independent living skills, and emotional expression.
Some places that CLE participants can volunteer at include the following:
Horizons Unlimited CLE participants also take part in other community activities such as water aerobics at the wellness center, visiting nature centers, going to the library, visiting art galleries, and attending community events. In the summer months you can find CLE participants outside playing softball, walking trails, and fishing. All CLE activities are planned according to participants’ likes and interests.
Community Life Engagement operates Monday through Friday from 8:30-11:30 am and from 12:00-3:00 pm. The current CLE Coordinator is Kristen Elbert, who can typically be reached at the Horizons Unlimited administrative office building Monday-Friday, 8-4. However, Day Hab staff is often out of the building and providing services during these times. By calling our front desk at 712-852-2211, an appointment can be scheduled with the CLE Coordinator.
