Horizons Unlimited's mission is: “Providing opportunities for our Horizons family to develop their full potential in a positive atmosphere.”
Incorporated in 1969, Horizons Unlimited of Palo Alto County, Inc. has expanded over the years to become the second largest non-profit organization in Palo Alto County. Horizons serves almost 90 individuals and employs around 75 part time and full time staff.
Horizons Unlimited provides a unique variety of programs for our special individuals where we focus on the abilities in people with disabilities. We offer residential services
where individuals live in group homes, apartments or independent community housing. Each individual is evaluated on his or her abilities and then placed in a home that fits his or her supervisory needs.
Through Community/Customized Employment, individuals work for community employers with supervision as needed from a Horizons’ job coach.
Horizons Unlimited also offers a community life engagement
program, which focuses on teaching social interaction, leisure activities, physical fitness, daily orientation and current events, health and hygiene, community awareness and involvement.
In November of 2017, Horizons received a three-year accreditation from CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. A three-year accreditation is the highest an organization can achieve and means Horizons programs are of “the highest quality, measurable and accountable.” Horizons has received CARF accreditation since 1983.
